Rockland Broad may be secluded but it’s surprisingly close to the centre of Norwich and accessing it couldn’t be easier - we really recommend the visit here at broads holidays. The roads heading to it are very easy to navigate & once you’ve found the surprisingly large car park next to the staithe that leads to the broad, you will only have a short walk to reach it. The broad makes an excellent habitat for many kinds of birds, so be sure to bring your binoculars & even your camera if you are a bird watching enthusiast (and even if you’re not).
There are many fantastic walks to enjoy on the Norfolk Broads & Rockland Broad sits directly on one of the most popular walks in the county. The Wherryman’s Way walking route runs from the edge of Norwich at Whitlingham Country Park & Broad and finishes at the town of Great Yarmouth on the east Norfolk coast. If you would like to try the walk but don’t fancy walking all the way from Norwich to Great Yarmouth then a visit to Rockland Broad is the perfect solution. Once you’ve parked your car in the car park, you will see a sign next to the staithe directing you along the ‘Wherryman’s Way’. Follow the path and you will soon come out next to an open field to your right and the broad to your left. Continue along a short distance while enjoying the beautiful natural sights and the path will take you to the bird hide, which sits on the edge of the water. This is where you will get the best view of the broad. Continuing on, you will find some nice places to sit overlooking the water and if you decide to continue on, you will eventually reach the River Yare and the popular Beauchamp Arms pub. Here you can sit for a while and either order a refreshing drink or treat yourself to a very fine meal & you will soon understand why the pub is so popular when it comes to food.
